Your Identity is Showing

An IP (Internet Protocol) Address is a unique numerical address assigned to your computer and every other computer on the Internet. It's like your street address but for the World Wide Web.

You should know that your IP address is automatically shown to every website you visit, including this one. Even if you just view an image from a website, your IP is broadcast to that site. It shouldn't be a problem for you, but if it is, then you need inexpensive anonymous Internet browsing software.

Internet Usage in Europe

Thanks to an excellent eMarketer newsletter article, Russian Online Population Explosion, I had important data to import into Many-Eyes.com.

Europe's 2007 Internet usage by % of population is 37%.

Russia's % of population is only 12%, but is expected to increase to 43% by 2012.

Growth Potential of Internet Users

Thanks to data by eMarketer and visualization by Many-Eyes, we can see the growth potential of Internet users. In 2006, the population penetration of the U.S. (63.6%) was over 5 times that of China (10.2%).

In 2011, China will have an 18% population penetration and is expected to exceed the number of Internet users in the U.S. by 40 million. From 2006 to 2011, China's Internet Users increase 84% from 133.5 million to 245.5 million.
